Ty Simpson going to the Los Angeles Rams was one of the more controversial storylines of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Many analysts and fans were shocked to see the Rams pick Simpson, as he won’t help them win a Super Bowl this year. Most of the projections had him going to the Steelers, the Jets, and even the Browns.
Sean McVay’s reaction after the Simpson pick also created concerns for fans as the Rams head coach didn’t sound too excited about the decision.
Talking to Pat McAfee, Rams GM Les Snead said that the Simpson pick and a meeting with him were kept a secret because he didn’t want other teams to know who they are interested in.
“Lol so McVay didnt want to hurt Stafford feelings during the post draft conference, so they spend a week doing damage control telling anyone under the sun how much they f**king love Simpson and their entire off season was built around getting him. Lol im sure Stafford loves that,” one fan reacted.
“Keeping it secret. So you would go to Bama because Ty Simpson’s dad was there and you’re friends with him. Well done Snead,” another fan wrote.
“Classic Snead mind games. Ty Simpson took “keep it secret” so seriously he gaslit the media post-draft. Rams draft espionage at its finest,” another fan added.
“Damage control is top notch,” another fan shared their thoughts.
“Ty Simpson was so locked in on the NDA energy that he forgot he already got drafted 😂 the Rams really trained this man to keep secrets so well he couldn’t even stop after it didn’t matter anymore 💀🏈,” another fan said.
“They told him “keep it quiet” and he took that personally,” another fan commented.
Analyst Weighs In on “Salty” Sean McVay After Ty Simpson Pickup by the Rams
Analyst Mike Florio shared his thoughts on Sean McVay’s reaction after the Rams drafted Simpson as the No. 13 pick and called the head coach “salty.”
”McVay was truculent. McVay was pissed. When he met with reporters on Friday night, he admitted it,” Florio said.
Florio further highlighted that McVay admitted being a little grumpy as he clarified his phone was blowing up, which is why he looked “angry.”
The analyst said he believes it was McVay’s way of making sure Rams quarterback, Matthew Stafford, doesn’t get the wrong idea.
