Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott tried to inspire teammate Quinnen Williams with a bold promise during minicamp, but NFL fans weren’t exactly buying it.
Prescott said that Williams reminded the team that he has spent seven seasons in the NFL without playing in the playoffs. After spending most of his career with the New York Jets before being traded to Dallas midway through the 2025 season, the four-time Pro Bowler is still waiting to play in his first postseason game.
“I told him I’ll get you to the playoffs, but I need you to go help us win it,” Prescott said.
While the comment was intended as motivation, fans had plenty to say about the Cowboys quarterback’s confidence.
One fan wrote: “I love 4 but man oh man this dude sell more hopium than Jerry Jones.”
Another added: “The bar is low for the Cowboys. 10 year vet and his words are ‘I can get you to the playoffs.’ Nothing about winning in the playoffs because he hasn’t done it.”
“Dak has a mental block when real pressure hits, plain and simple. He can’t get over it,” another user wrote.
“That’s pretty much been Dakota’s entire career (getting to the playoffs),” one user wrote.
Despite the criticism, some Cowboys fans came to Prescott’s defense.
One supporter argued that Dallas’ playoff shortcomings haven’t been solely because of the quarterback.
“Dak get us to the playoffs and yes he does come up short but he right. Nobody steps up to help. Hopefully that changes,” a user wrote.
Quinnen Williams Could Be Key To Dallas’ Plans
Whether fans believe in Prescott’s promise or not, Williams could play a major role in determining whether Dallas reaches the postseason.
He recorded 53 total tackles (26 solo), 2.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles last season, playing for both the Jets and Cowboys combined.
For now, Prescott has publicly said that the team will push for the playoffs in the upcoming season.
The challenge, however, will be convincing fans that the current Cowboys team can keep their promise, and who knows, maybe even win the Super Bowl.
