Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders is a Pro Bowler, and not many people think it’s undeserving.
Being selected to the Pro Bowl nowadays is tricky. Most quarterbacks/players will decline invites/to participate in the Pro Bowl due to it being an uncompetitive flag football game. This leads to a lot of other players being selected as “replacements.”
Sanders replaced AFC quarterback Drake Maye, who is playing in this Sunday’s Super Bowl. Sanders, who started just seven games this past season, went 3-4 in those games while throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and completing just 56.6 percent of his passes.
Yesterday, on February 3, 2026, Sanders participated in the game as an AFC quarterback. His team lost 66-52 and he threw an interception in the process.
While many thought Sanders didn’t necessarily deserve to be a Pro Bowler, is brother, Deion Sanders Jr., took a shot at the haters. After the game and overnight last night, Sanders Jr., clapped back at critics saying that Shedeur doesn’t belong in the Pro Bowl.
To further understand the current state of the Pro Bowl, or Pro Bowl Games, even New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields declined an invitation to the Pro Bowl. This comes after Fields throwing for just 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception while playing in nine games this season. This year’s AFC quarterbacks featured Sanders, Joe Burrow, and Joe Flacco.
Todd Monken Not Committed To Shedeur Sanders Next Season
Just because he is a Pro Bowler, doesn’t mean Shedeur Sanders will start next season at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
Like most seasons, the Browns will have the tough task this offseason of figuring out who their starting quarterback will be in Week 1 for the 2026 season. New head coach Todd Monken was asked during his introductory press conference earlier this week if Sanders is his QB1 to which he responded, “that’s to be determined.”
Monken, taking over a new team, will have to be very careful with who he decides will be his starting quarterback in Week 1. It could be Deshaun Watson, who was out all season with an Achilles injury. It could be one of the two second-year QBs in Sanders or Dillion Gabriel. Or, it could be an outside guy, whether it’s through the draft, or free agency.
