Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills made it to the Divisional Round this year. Their game against the Denver Broncos went into overtime and ended with a 30-33 loss for the Bills, which was deemed highly controversial at the time.
Firing Sean McDermott was one of the first decisions made by the franchise following the loss. Even though many believe McDermott did well with a considerably weaker roster, team owner Terry Pegula didn’t agree with that narrative.
Allen, on the other hand, was seen at the introductory press conference for Joe Brady’s promotion to head coach. The quarterback was seen on crutches and a walking boot on his injured foot. He had a broken bone in his foot and underwent a procedure to get it fixed.
Now, Allen and the Bills are left with the responsibility to tie up loose ends and be ready for the next season. During a recent conversation with CBS Sports’ Chris Hassel, he was asked what would be at the top of his wish list for the management this offseason.
The quarterback took a long pause, thinking about the things he could possibly put on his wish list. But Allen couldn’t come up with anything. He stated that it’s not his nature to wish for things.
“It’s not in my nature to wish for anything,” he said. “I think that we had the roster this year to do it. My wish list is give me another opportunity. Let me lead this team and try to get ourselves to the playoffs and get another opportunity in the playoffs.”
That’s all Allen is asking for: another opportunity. The quarterback believes that his team possesses the talent to make a successful run for the Super Bowl.
Josh Allen on Being Part of Head Coach Interviews
Allen also made an appearance on First Things First. He was asked about his role in head coach interviews and his involvement in the entire process. The quarterback said that he felt “awkward” at times.
Overall, it was a fun time for him. Allen believes that adding a player’s perspective to those meetings brings out better results.
“It was a fun time. It was a unique perspective,” he SAID. “A little awkward at times, because I’m sitting there and getting paid to be the quarterback, right? But I think having that perspective of what the pulse of the locker room is, being able to ask questions and help Mr. [Terry] Pegula, the Pegula family, some of the scouts and, ultimately, [Bills general manager] Brandon Beane.”
His role in the process was to help decision-makers be better informed by putting a player’s perspective on the table.
