‘This Is Harassment Plain and Simple’: Dave Portnoy Left Agonized After TMZ Reporter Ambushes Mike Vrabel Over Dianna Russini Scandal

The Mike Vrabel and Diana Russini controversy has been one of the biggest topics of discussion in the world of football. Even though it’s been a few weeks since Page Six first published their pictures where they were seen embracing at an Arizona hotel, the discussions around it haven’t stopped.

Recently, TMZ fanned the flame by publishing a video of a man approaching Vrabel at an airport to ask about the Russini situation. The man started the video by asking Vrabel how he was feeling amid all the drama.

Initially, Vrabel responded to the question, but the man continued to follow him, asking him about the “double standard” and his take on the situation. He also asked the New England Patriots head coach about his wife.

Vrabel was also asked if he was considering stepping down from his position as a head coach. The man followed Vrabel all the way to the parking lot, continuously asking him questions that he was clearly not willing to answer.

Many fans on social media stated that it was unnecessary to harass Vrabel with the questions when he was not willing to engage in a conversation. Dave Portnoy also chimed in on the discussion, blasting TMZ for stooping so low.

“What the f**k!   Who hired this guy?  The Jets?   This isn’t watergate.   Give me a break.   This is harassment plain and simple!   TMZ trying to make up for the fact they got scooped by Page 6!    This is disgusting journalism.   I’m sick.   Not American!” he wrote on X.

Many people have come forward in support of Vrabel. Recently, Shannon Sharpe added his two cents. Sharpe didn’t condone Vrabel’s affair, as he logically questioned whether firing him would be justified in this situation.

Shannon Sharpe Explained How Mike Vrabel’s Controversy is Different from Sherrone Moore’s

In December 2025, Michigan fired head coach Sherrone Moore as he was engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. On a recent episode of Nightcap, Sharpe explained how that is different from the Vrabel controversy.

“Dianna Russini does not work for the Patriots. Mike Vrabel does not work for ESPN,” Sharpe said. “Those situations are totally different. Those are people that worked at that institution.”

Sharpe clarified that Moore and the woman he had an affair with worked at the same program, so when their affair came to light, there were valid reasons to fire the head coach. In Vrabel’s case, there’s nothing in common between him and Russini.

Sharpe made it clear that it was a “moral issue.” However, that doesn’t mean that the Patriots should fire him, as he didn’t break any rules. That issue is supposed to be resolved between Vrabel and his wife.
