The 2026 NFL Draft saw a total of 257 players being selected by the franchises as the three-day event, consisting of a total of seven rounds, came to a close last weekend in Pittsburgh.
While some picks played out as everyone expected them to, the draft also saw franchises opting for some surprise picks while also unearthing new talent, as the NFL often does every year.
Out of all the players being selected in the draft, it looks like some states have a better output than others as far as their players featuring in the NFL is concerned. Let’s take a look at which of the states produced the most number of NFL draft picks in 2026.
Which State Produced the Most NFL Draft Picks in 2026?
An interesting stat as published by NFL analyst Ari Meirov puts Texas and Florida as the top states with the most number of NFL picks. The list posted on X compiled all the draft picks as per their high school state, with Texas emerging on top with a total of 33 picks, whilst Florida occupies the second spot, garnering 26 picks.
The first round in itself was evidence enough to see Texas and Florida dominating the draft, with the overall no. 8 pick WR Jordyn Tyson and no. 32 pick RB Jadarian Price going to the New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks, respectively, with both belonging to the Lone Star State.
Meanwhile, the Sunshine State saw Heisman winner QB Fernando Mendoza going to the Raiders as the first overall pick whilst also boasting a total of four more picks in the first round itself, namely WR Carnell Tate to the Titans (4th pick), OT Francis Mauigoa to the Giants (10th pick), EDGE Rueben Bain to the Buccaneers (15th pick), and EDGE Akheem Mesidor to the Chargers (22nd pick).
Meanwhile, Georgia too produced a healthy number of draft picks, with the Peach State’s tally amounting to 22 picks, occupying the third spot on the list. California and Ohio round off the top five list with a total of 19 and 11 picks to their names, respectively.
