Fernando Mendoza is not just a great player on the field, with him being a No.1 overall pick, his Heisman Trophy and his national championship as the proof, he is also loved by many fans and analysts for his humble, down to earth demeanor.
One of the viral incidents that created Mendoza’s nice guy image was his extensive LinkedIn posts, another factor would be him sacrificing attending the 2026 NFL Draft event for his mom, who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
Talking about his image during a recent interview, Mendoza told James Jones that while he comes across as very humble, fuzzy and warm, at the end of his Indiana career, he would be an a**hole to his teammates as he wanted them to give their best.
Mendoza further said that things would be different now as he is starting from scratch while also acknowledging that there are a lot of leaders in the roster.

Maxx Crosby’s Reaction to Fernando Mendoza Joining the Raiders
Maxx Crosby, who is one of the leaders in the Raiders locker room, spoke about Fernando Mendoza joining the franchise in his latest Youtube Video on “The Rush.”
Crosby said that he is very excited about Mendoza joining the team and called it one of the worst kept secrets in sports, as it was well established the former Indiana star was going to be the No.1 pick.
The Raiders DE said everybody on the team is ecstatic about Mendoza and shared that when the No. 1 overall pick visited the facility, he had a good conversation with him and that the two of them have been in contact ever since.
“Excited to take him under my wing and help him out, show him the way. Just encourage him to be himself and lead in his own way. So, (I’m) fired up for him and his family. I know this is a big moment (for them),” Crosby said.
