The Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster will look significantly different in 2026 than it did in 2025. While some players will remain with the team, many new names – and jerseys – will be on the gridiron this season.
One of the biggest moments in a player’s onboarding process with a new team is narrowing down which jersey number he will wear. Some players will be able to get their first choice without any fuss. Others will need to wheel and deal with current or former players to get their number of choice. Here’s a look at the jersey numbers chosen by players.
Pittsburgh Steelers Rookie Jersey Numbers
Many numbers are not yet publicly known, but some of the new rookies have settled on their choice. First-round pick Max Iheanachor has chosen No. 71. Meanwhile, seventh-round running back Eli Heidenreich has chosen No. 29, per an Apr. 30 report by PFSN.
OT Max Iheanachor: No. 71
WR Germie Bernard: (in progress)
QB Drew Allar: (in progress)
CB Daylen Everette: (in progress)
OG Gennings Dunker: (in progress)
WR Kaden Wetjen: (in progress)
TE Riley Nowakowski: (in progress)
DT Gabriel Rubio: (in progress)
S Robert Spears-Jennings: (in progress)
RB Eli Heidenreich: No. 29
Modern NFL rules allow players to pick numbers that are non-traditional, but many players choose to keep a number that lines up with the traditional range. For instance, offensive linemen will pick a number in the 70s.
New Pittsburgh Steelers Non-rookie Jersey Numbers
While many of the rookies’ jersey numbers are still unsettled, plenty of new veteran additions have settled on their jersey numbers. Here’s a look at where things stand on that front, according to a Thursday report by WKBN.
S Jaquan Brisker: No. 3
WR Michael Pittman Jr.: No. 11
RB Rico Dowdle: No. 13
P Cameron Johnston: No. 19
CB Jamel Dean: No. 35
G Ryan McCollum: No. 62
T Jack Driscoll: No. 66
DT Sebastian Joseph-Day: No. 69
WR Brandon Johnson: No. 89
Every number is subject to change, as players often trade their numbers or ask for new ones, especially after making their first selection.
