NFL Combine 2026: Arkansas RB Mike Washington Jr. Gets Emotional After Blazing 40-Yard Dash

Mike Washington Jr. of the Arkansas Razorbacks announced his arrival at the NFL Combine. This is where players like him get to shine, as most of the headlines are usually occupied by the star players coming out of college.

Washington Jr. started his college football journey with the Buffalo Bulls in 2021. In 2023, he moved to the New Mexico State Aggies. For his final year in college football, he joined the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Several players worked out today, including Jeremiyah Love, but it was Washington Jr. who stole the show with his 40-yard dash. Washington Jr. recorded a 4.33-second time for his 40-yard dash.

The running back broke down after his incredible run and was seen crying on the side. He didn’t post the best numbers on the vertical and broad jumps, but he still finished second in both areas, 10’8 and 39 marks, respectively.

Many believe that his performance must have boosted his draft stock. Even though he was being recognized for his size, speed, and physicality, putting up such numbers at the combine often boosts a player’s profile.

Washington Jr. has given the team scouts something to work on and figure out how they can bring him into their organization. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we see more discussions around his name and his draft projection.

Fans on the internet are also very supportive of Washington Jr. after his performance.

“Saw a tiktok he posted of his journey… im definitely a fan of his now.. truly a grind type player you want,” a fan wrote.

“While this isn’t the end all be all, Mike Washington Jr has a real chance to be the 2nd RB taken,” a fan wrote.

Safe to say, Washington Jr. is no longer an underrated running back prospect.

    Mike Washington Jr. is Versatile

Ahead of the Draft Combine, Washington Jr. had a conversation with The Mirror U.S., where he talked about the qualities he possesses and why he should be looked at as a credible prospect at the upcoming NFL Draft.

“I’m a three-down back,” he said. “I have the ability to punish the defender. I can make him miss. My lateral quickness makes up for a lot of things, and I think I can explode downfield on any play… I’m a versatile back.”

Washington Jr. stated that he has played with “multiple different coordinators, offensive coordinators, and different schemes,” which makes him one of the most versatile players available in his class.
