Amid Dominant Displays, Yaxel Lendeborg Names The Only Weakness of Michigan Team

Michigan Wolverines forward Yaxel Lendeborg recently revealed a weakness of his current squad. On Tuesday, Feb. 17, Lendeborg and the rest of coach Dusty May‘s Wolverines lost 91-80 to coach Matt Painter’s Purdue Boilermakers on the latter’s home floor, the Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana.

During a post-game interview with collegiate hoops analyst Jeff Goodman of “The Field of 68” on YouTube, Lendeborg was asked if the Michigan-based program had any weaknesses. The 23-year-old mentioned coach Greg Gard’s Wisconsin Badgers and said:

“I would just say probably what Wisconsin did. Whatever they did, that was the weakness… Exactly, whatever, if you go 60, 70% from three, then that’s our weakness, man. That’s all I got.”

The loss to the Badgers back in mid-January of this year is Lendeborg and the Wolverines‘ lone defeat of the season, as they currently hold an overall record of 25-1 (15-1 Big Ten). In that game, Wisconsin shot the lights out of the basketball to finish the game with a 45% three-point percentage and a three-point win, 91-88.

This is presumably what Lendeborg was pointing out: Michigan’s weakness is when its opponent goes off from beyond the three-point line.

Yaxel Lendeborg Had A Fun First Time Playing At The Purdue Boilermakers’ Home Arena

In the same interview with Jeff Goodman on “The Field of 68” YouTube channel, Yaxel Lendeborg was asked for his thoughts on playing at the Purdue Boilermakers’ home court, the Mackey Arena, for the first time in his college tenure.

For Lendeborg, it was a fun experience overall, but even more so with him knowing that his teammates have his back no matter what.

“It was amazing. The atmosphere in here is crazy. My first time in Mackey was a very fun first time. So, you know, but I just want to give credit to the teammates that I got here for having my back, man. From the beginning, I was super nervous, shaken up about everything that was going on but, man, they had my back from the beginning, and everybody was reassuring me that they’re with me,” Lendeborg said.
