AJ Dybantsa is one of the best players in this year’s freshman class. He has already shown that he is league-ready. In 27 games in his freshman season, he is averaging a whopping 24.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He has a 53.3 FG% and 75.7 FT%. He has shown maturity and leadership for BYU.
Kevin Young’s BYU has maintained decent form and has made an impact in the Big 12. Despite their average 8-6 record in the Big 12, their 20-7 overall record has put them in a promising No. 6 seed. With four games left, Dybantsa and BYU have a chance to get a seed as high as 4th or 5th. This would not only inspire them to a deep run in the NCAAA tournament, but also solidify Dybantsa’s NBA draft stock, which is already pretty strong.
AJ Dybantsa seems destined to become the No. 1 NBA draft pick, with everyone doubting Darryn Peterson towards the end of the season. A player who can be considered a pretty good comparison for Dybantsa is Cooper Flagg. They are clearly two very different players; however, they have had pretty comparable college careers. Both of them were clearly the best candidates for the No. 1 draft pick. Dybantsa has racked up brilliant odds for his stats this season.
Ahead of BYU’s game against UCF, AJ Dybantsa took the odds for points total to a new high.
“AJ Dybantsa’s point total tonight is 30.5. Never seen a college player point total this high in my life,” the post was captioned.
Here’s what a fan wrote:
“Cooper Flagg tenure at Duke was cool but he aint fw AJ,” one fan claimed.
