“Kirby Hasn’t Recovered Since NIL Took Over”: Fans React as Four-Star LB Commits to Florida Over Georgia, and South Carolina

Kirby Smart has been making the headlines with his SEC separation talk. While the media and fans were busy discussing that, Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs lost a four-star prospect that they’ve been monitoring for weeks.

Rivals Hayes Fawcett recently reported that four-star LB Ja’Bios Smith has committed to Florida. Smith is a 6’3, 210 lbs star LB who was ranked No. 1 LB in the state of Georgia, according to Rivals Industry.

It’s a massive blow for Kirby and the Bulldogs. The No. 1-ranked LB could’ve done wonders for his program. Smith chose the Florida Gators over some highly revered programs such as Georgia, Texas Tech, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.

While Kirby might be disappointed over losing a potential star player, fans had a mixed reaction to the newest Florida signing.

“Kirby hasn’t recovered since NIL took over,” a fan wrote.

“The best LB in the state of GA is Joakim Gouda who happens to be a future dawg. This kid is a good pickup for Florida though,” a fan wrote.

“Florida fans dragging Kirby in the middle of summer lmao we are a long way away from ESD,” a fan wrote.

“Kirby and Beamer in the locker before being lockered on the field,” a fan wrote.

“The best in Georgia, go to Florida,” a fan wrote.

“Florida pulling the No. 1 LB out of Georgia is a HUGE recruiting win,” a fan wrote.

It is a signing worth celebrating for the Florida Gators fans. Not only did they sign a good player, but they also reserved the bragging rights over the Georgia Bulldogs for taking a player out of their state.

    Kirby Smart on SEC Separation

Change isn’t an uncommon thing in college sports. Every year, we witness discussions over several topics that could potentially change the future of college sports. One of the biggest comments this year is being made by Kirby Smart.

“I’ve said this for a long time to our president, I’ve been a huge advocate that if we can’t find rules that everybody plays by, then we should play on our own,” he said. “I’m not afraid of that. I’m not afraid to break away and say that our conference is strong enough to go out and play.”

Smart is frustrated with the lack of rules and enforcement that govern the sport, and he isn’t the only head coach who feels this way.
