Oregon Football Recruiting: Where Ducks Stand With 5-Star RB Landen Williams-Callis

Five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis announced his top 10 schools in his recruitment on Saturday. Williams-Callis is a potential superstar and one of the best players in his class, making him an ideal target for several top programs.

The Oregon Ducks are still in the mix and on the 10-school list recently announced by Williams-Callis. Even though the competition is tough to sign the star RB, the Ducks can be confident about their chances.

Oregon is placed alongside Texas, Houston, SMU, Florida, LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, Indiana, and Missouri on Williams-Callis’ list. The question is, where do they stand on this list as compared to other programs?

Texas A&M is widely regarded as the frontrunner in this race. However, some factors push Oregon to the front. They have developed some great running backs over the years, including Jordan James and Noah Whittington.

Williams-Callis, on the other hand, is already being presented as a well-rounded athlete. So, the Ducks can benefit from their reputation and can help him unlock his true potential. There’s one more thing that favors the Ducks over some other programs.

Even though Williams-Callis has listed out 10 programs, he will only visit seven of them. The Oregon Ducks will receive an official visit from the star RB, which is scheduled for May 28.

The Ducks will have a great opportunity to showcase what they can do for Williams-Callis and how they can help him become one of the best RBs in the country, ready for the NFL in the next few years.

Oregon has landed Tyler High School running back CaDarrius McMiller already, and if they can add Williams-Callis as well, their roster will have an edge over other programs.

Dan Lanning is Pushing for 24-Team Playoff Model

The conversation around the expansion of the College Football Playoff is heating up. Several big names, including the Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning, have openly talked about their support for an expansion.

Lanning believes it’s time to move on from the 12-team playoff format and make it a 24-team model.

“What’s happened because of the College Football Playoff is every bowl game has been devalued, the end of the season looks completely different. You’re a failure as a coach if you don’t make it to the College Football Playoff,” he told ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

Lanning said that the expansion will help more teams prove themselves in the playoffs, and it will also help elevate the quality of competition toward the end of the season.
