Deion Sanders is leaving no stone unturned to bring the Colorado Buffaloes back on track. The Buffaloes recorded their worst season under Sanders last year, going 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the conference.
The significant drop from their 9-4 and 7-2 season in the previous year was worse than expected. Sanders had lost several key players to the NFL Draft, and their momentum was bound to decline.
Sanders also went through a lot of health challenges, which made things tougher for him and his team. Now, a completely healthy Sanders is looking to get things in order and make the Buffaloes title contenders in the near future.
Coach Prime has landed seven commitments from seven different states, proving that he’ll do whatever it takes to turn things around. Buffaloes reporter Scott Procter recently highlighted the impressive recruitment work done by Sanders.
Colorado’s first seven 2027 commits hail from seven different states. The list includes Andre Adams from Tennessee, Gabe Jenkins from Pennsylvania, Ba’Roc Willis from Alabama, Kenny Fairley from Georgia, Davon Dericho from Florida, Will Rasmussen from Utah, and Li’Marcus Jones from Mississippi.
Jones became the Buffs’ fifth commit this week. The 6’5, 300 lbs four-star OT had previously committed to the Ole Miss Rebels. He also had offers from Mississippi State, Purdue, and other programs, but chose to join Colorado instead.
The overall number goes up to eight commits from eight different states when we count Prince Washington from Texas, who recently committed to Colorado.
Even though Sanders is loved and respected in Colorado, there’s a lot of pressure on him to put the program back on track. Fans are also expecting a possible title run in the next few years, and based on his recruitment, Sanders and the Buffs are headed in the right direction.
Former Buff Criticized Deion Sanders’ Recruitment
Former Colorado Buffaloes linebacker Jashon Sykes recently made an appearance on the Zero 2 Sixty podcast. Sykes criticized Coach Prime’s stance against recruiting players from California.
“I hate that Coach Prime came out publicly and said he doesn’t recruit California, and I’m not bringing that up because I’m from California, I’m bringing it up because it was such an inexperienced head coach response,” he said.
Interestingly, there is no evidence of Sanders publicly stating the same. In addition to that, Coach Prime hasn’t been against the idea of recruiting players from California.
