The LSU Tigers are steadily climbing the 2025 Southeastern Conference rankings, currently sitting fourth behind South Carolina, Texas, and Vanderbilt, with a conference record of 9-4. With a total of three more games to go in this NCAA women’s basketball regular season, the Tigers would like to improve on their overall 23-4 record as they vie for a postseason spot.
A major part of the Louisiana-based program’s success so far this season has been its standout forward, Grace Knox, who has delivered consistent performances throughout.
The 6’2″ freshman is averaging 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and it’s safe to say that her performances have only been improving.
Athleticism runs in her family, as her father, Daryl Knox, played as a defensive end for the UNLV Rebels. His college football accolades caught the eye of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom Daryl spent a couple of seasons. Daryl had such a strong impact on the UNLV program that he is still their career sacks leader decades after finishing his CFB career.
Meanwhile, Grace’s mother, Suzanne Jordan, has been present for her since day one. Jordan, soon after realizing her daughter’s hyperactive nature, wanted an outlet for her child to channel all of that energy, which prompted her to sign Grace up for her elementary school’s track competition, which saw her win all nine competitions.
Knox’s Mother Reveals How Height Became Grace’s Early Advantage
After successfully acing track, Grace first took up basketball at the age of 12-13. Jordan, in an interview with NOLA, attributed Grace’s success to her physical advantage, recalling how Knox used her height to the fullest whilst playing basketball despite not knowing much about the rules.
“Of course, she was like a head taller than everybody. And she didn’t know any of the rules. She was just out there going crazy with the ball, shooting and running”, Jordan stated
This soon prompted her mother, Jordan, to find Grace a trainer in Mike Josserand.
Throughout his time coaching Grace, Josserand made sure she faced many boys her age, giving her as much on-court exposure as possible. Knox also played under coach Stan Delus in high school, with Kim Mulkey as her current coach at LSU.
