After that heartbreaking loss to UCLA in the national final, Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks are set to lose four seniors, including one whom Staley herself tried to get one more year of eligibility for.
These four are set to try their luck in the WNBA draft, and they are certainly making some waves. How exactly will they fare later this month when the draft begins, though?
Where Could South Carolina Gamecocks Stars Land During the 2026 WNBA Draft?
C Madina Okot – No. 12 to No. 16 Or Top 10
Madina Okot has suddenly been thrust into the WNBA draft after failing to secure another year of availability. The big Kenyan was undoubtedly a dominant force in the paint, but because she started playing basketball later than many others, she is still a bit raw and needs more polish.
This draft class is known for a lot of good guards and a lot of good centers, and while Okot is good, her inexperience could drag her down in the draft.
G Raven Johnson – No. 6 to No. 11
Raven Johnson is, without a doubt, one of the best guards in women’s basketball. However, she is also in a draft class filled with other excellent guards and it is not certain if teams would pick her over her rivals in the position, such as UCLA’s Keke Rice and UConn’s Azzi Fudd, the latter possibly going No. 1. Whichever team she lands though, they will get one of the best defensive guards in the business, as well as a great playmaker.
G Ta’Niya Latson – No. 7 to No. 13
Like Johnson, Latson is also an excellent guard who could do it all, but she is a bit better at the 2 than at the 1, and she could also slot in at the 3. This flexibility could get many teams interested in her, and she is also a proven scorer, as opposed to the proven defender that is Raven Johnson.
Teams like the new Portland Fire have taken interest in her, so it should be interesting where she will land.
F Maryam Dauda – Undrafted
Mayam Dauda might have been solid for South Carolina, but she is expected to leave as she is not eligible anymore. Given the talent during this year’s draft, there is a big possibility she might not even get picked. However, she may opt to play internationally, be it in Europe or Africa, or even try out for the Nigerian national team.
