Azzi Fudd is touted to become the first pick in the WNBA Draft. This would mean that she would reunite with her ex-UConn teammate and girlfriend, Paige Bueckers. During a recent interaction with CBS Sports, Fudd spoke about the upcoming draft.
“I think it just excites me you know we don’t really have any control, and who picks us what number we get picked. So being able to just be here, enjoy this moment. Get into it at the draft with all the other incredible players that are here,” Azzi Fudd gave a humble answer and expressed excitement.
“I think it’s going to be just a great moment. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so I know I am in good company with all the other UConn alums, but I am super excited to find out what the future holds for me and for everyone else here,” she added.
Azzi Fudd has been considered a generational talent for quite some time now. After struggling with injuries all her college career, she made an inspiring comeback in the last two seasons. She and Paige Bueckers led UConn to its 12th national championship last season, and Fudd stayed this season for her redshirt senior year.
Fudd led the UConn Huskies to an unbeaten season until the Final Four. Unfortunately for them, the season ended with a big loss to Dawn Staley’s South Carolina. Although Fudd’s college career did not end the way she wanted, she had a decent season.
