Projected for Chicago Sky, LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson Makes Feelings Clear on Her Preferred Team Ahead of the WNBA Draft

Although Flau’jae Johnson’s senior season did not end the way she wanted, with the national championship, the future holds a lot for the LSU star. She is one of the most highly reputed WNBA Draft prospects this year. Asked which team she would prefer to play for in the WNBA, Johnson gave an honest and humble answer.

“My mindset right now is really just like I can’t control none of that. So, like I’m not even thinking about that. I’m just like honestly, I’m like whoever picked me, I’m grateful, you know, to even have an opportunity to play in the WNBA. Like that sounds crazy. And then whoever doesn’t pick me, like you know we I get to see them all the time, you know, I get to play them,” she said.

“So for me, it’s a win-win situation for whoever drafts me. It’s a win-win situation. I’m very thankful, you know, to bring my talents to that city and represent how I do. But I can’t control any of it. It’s not like, you know, I could be like, I want to go here. I want to go here. No. So, I’m just thankful for where I’m at right now. I just want to hear my name get called. That’s it. Like, that is so crazy. I used to play 2K all the time since a kid, and now my name is get called for the draft. That’s crazy,” Flau’jae showed gratitude.

Flau’jae Johnson has been one of the brightest stars of women’s college basketball ever since she burst onto the scene. After her commitment to Kim Mulkey’s LSU in 2022. She earned Mulkey’s trust straight away and helped Angel Reese-led LSU to their first national championship. She was immediately one of the core members of the team.

Where is Flau’jae Johnson projected to land in the WNBA Draft?

Despite a not-so-impressive season with 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, Flau’jae Johnson was the first name that Mulkey had on the starting five. She was often regarded as the “heart” of the LSU team.

Johnson expressed her desire to become the No. 1 draft pick during the season. However, as things stand, that is unlikely to happen. The newest mock draft is as follows:

    1. Dallas Wings – Olivia Miles (TCU)
    2. Minnesota Lynx – Awa Fam (Spain)
    3. Seattle Storm – Azzi Fudd (UConn)
    4. Washington Mystics – Lauren Betts (UCLA)
    5. Chicago Sky – Flau’jae Johnson (LSU)
    6. Toronto Tempo – Nell Angloma (France)
    7. Portland Fire – Iyana Martin (Spain)
    8. Golden State Valkyries – Gianna Kneepkens (UCLA)
