TCU guard Olivia Miles is one of the headliners for this year’s WNBA draft. Alongside UConn’s Azzi Fudd, Spain’s Awa Fam Thiam and UCLA’s Lauren Betts.
While she is projected to be drafted around the No. 2 and No. 3 spot, she is considered a longshot to be drafted No. 1 as the Dallas Wings need a center, as well as maybe looking at another guard who may be reuniting with her former UConn teammate.
That being said, when the prospect of Miles playing alongside Paige Bueckers was brought up during ESPN’s Sportscenter, Olivia Miles remained optimistic and said that they could become a dominant backcourt when if paired together.
“I think we’d be one of, if not the most dynamic backcourt in the league. I’m naturally a pass first guard so I could get her the ball,” she said. “I would be grateful wherever i land, but If I got to play with Paige [Bueckers], I feel like we’d light the league on fire.”
Regarded as one of the most dynamic point guards in college basketball, Olivia Miles averaged 20.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists during her senior year of college. She used to play for Notre Dame before transferring to TCU for her final year of eligibility.
Where Could Olivia Miles Land During the WNBA Draft?
Several mock drafts have projected Olivia Miles to go No. 2 depending on if Spaniard Awa Fam or UConn’s Azzi Fudd goes No. 1. This pick belongs to the Minnesota Lynx, which is in need of a point guard right now, so Miles could slot in as their resident playmaker.
The Lynx are a powerhouse team but they have lost a lot of players to free agency, so Miles could be a very good pick for them. Her main weakness is her defense, but the Lynx could make her work on that.
