NIL deals have truly revolutionized college sports and incentivized student athletes to use their fame and popularity to be monetized. In a way, many such athletes have utilized their full college eligibility to make the most out of these deals. Likewise, LSU transfer guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is also bagging the most out of her NIL opportunities, getting deals from some of the most popular and beloved brands.
Ahead of LSU’s second-round March Madness matchup against Texas Tech, Fulwiley posted a picture of herself on her Instagram page rocking a full yellow fit and carrying a bag of Rising Cane’s. In the caption, she wrote,
“Ballin with a Box Combo @raisingcanes #CaniacAmbassador.”
While there is not much information on the specifics, it is clear that Fulwiley has now signed a NIL deal with Rising Cane’s. Rising Cane’s is a fast food chain built around selling chicken fingers. Based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the restaurant is known for its simple yet tasty servings of chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast, and their famous Cane’s sauce. The chain has now grown rapidly across 900 locations in the United States and continues to expand rapidly.
Fulwiley has indeed built one of the most impressive NIL portfolios in women’s college basketball. She signed with Stephen Curry’s brand at Under Armour as a brand ambassador for SC-30 on March 15, 2024. She also became the first-ever college athlete in Red Bull’s history to land a multi-year global deal, giving her access to Red Bull’s elite performance centers and platforms spanning fashion, music, and extreme sports. Fulwiley is ranked 12th in NIL valuation among all women’s college basketball players, with this number only expected to grow further.
How Does The Upcoming Matchup Between LSU and Texas Tech Look?
The upcoming second-round matchup between LSU and Texas Tech in the NCAA Tournament is surely an exciting one to look forward to.
The Tigers lead the nation in scoring at 95.1 points per game and are heading in after demolishing Jacksonville 116-58 in the first round. Flau’jae Johnson, MiLaysia Fulwiley, and Mikaylah Williams will be leading the charge for this matchup.

On the other hand, Texas Tech plays a completely different brand of basketball. The Lady Raiders hold teams to 27% from the deep and force nearly 20 turnovers per game, making them one of the most disruptive defenses in the bracket.
However, the problem for Texas Tech is that LSU is too deep and explosive to be exploited, especially at home. ESPN gives LSU a 96.5% chance to win. So, will the Tigers pull off another easy win, or will Texas Tech go ahead by pulling in an upset?
