Dawn Staley made headlines as she commented on the WNBA record-breaking display of former South Carolina Gamecocks star, Kamilla Cardoso on Friday, and now she’s back supporting her Gamecocks in WNBA but with a different name to appreciate.
Staley took to social media platform, X, to shower some special praise on Indiana Fever star, Bree Hall, who also played for Dawn Staley at the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Staley’s praise for her former star came after Bree Hall was introduced into the mix in Indiana Fever’s clash with the Los Angeles Sparks, a game which the Fever comfortably won 111-87. Hall featured for 10 minutes in the game, scoring five points and one rebound as her team ran out easy winners in the end.
Bree Hall has been one of Dawn Staley’s trusted lieutenants in the past, with their relationship blossoming as they won trophies together. Hall was a part of the 2022 and 2024 NCAA Championship victories, before being picked 20th overall at the 2025 WNBA draft, where she went to the Indiana Fever.
“Bree’s an elite defender,” Staley said in 2025 as Hall entered the WNBA.
“It’s elite – the things that she does, the people that she has to guard. In my 25 years of coaching, she’s on my all-time defensive team – all the players that I’ve coached – because she’s very consistent with it, and she relishes the challenge.”

There was clear support coming the way of Bree Hall from South Carolina fans as they flooded the comments section with reactions.
In just over a week from now, Bree Hall is expected to be back on the court, as Indiana Fever take on the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA.
