    Dawn Staley Hypes Up Sky’s Kamilla Cardoso After Record-Breaking Night vs the Fire

    Dawn Staley’s former South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso entered the WNBA record books after a dominant performance against the Portland Fire on Friday. The Chicago Sky center set the WNBA record for the most field goals without a miss.

    Cardoso scored a career-high 30 points in 24 minutes, shooting 13-for-13. She also had eight rebounds, leading the Sky to a commanding 124-94 win.

    Coach Staley hyped up Cardoso’s record-breaking night on X.

    “Break the record!!! Make some WNBA history Kmill! Let’s goooooo!” she posted.

    “WNBA Record broken!! Congrats Kamilla!! 30pc the easy way!!!” Coach Staley shared.

    Sydney Taylor also had a night to remember, scoring 29 points and shooting 8-11 from the field. She went 6-7 from 3-point range. She also made all seven free throws, and added three rebounds and three assists.

    Kamilla Cardoso reveals Dawn Staley’s role in record-breaking night

    After the game, reporter Kareem Copeland asked Kamilla Cardoso when she thought she could actually make history.

    “Asked Cardoso when she knew it was gonna be one of those nights, she said at halftime when she pulled out her phone and already had a text from her college coach Dawn Staley,” Copeland reported.

    The Sky (6-12) are 12th while the Fire (8-11) are 11th. Portland has lost its last two games, while the Sky have found some momentum with back-to-back wins.

    The Sky face defending champion Las Vegas Aces in their next two games. Meanwhile, the Fire face the Mystics and the Storm.
