MiLaysia Fulwiley Makes Feelings Clear On Final Season With Kim Mulkey’s LSU

MiLaysia Fulwiley made a blockbuster transfer portal move before the start of the 2025 season, leaving Dawn Staley’s South Carolina for Kim Mulkey’s LSU.

The move did not pan out in favor of Fulwiley, as the Tigers bowed out of March Madness after a Sweet 16 defeat to Duke, while the Gamecocks went on to conquer UConn in a hard-fought defensive battle for the national championship.

Now, ahead of her final season of college basketball, Fulwiley is ready to take on a leadership role to help the team reach its goal of a national championship. In an interview on “SportsCenter” on Saturday, Fulwiley said:

“I think my main goal stays the same. I want to win, and I just have to help my team do that any way possible. Me being a senior, it takes on a lot more leadership, and I think I’m ready for that. My teammates believe in me, they trust me, and I think that plays a big role as well.”

Fulwiley also spoke on her relationship with former teammate Flau’jae Johnson, who now plays for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. She said:

“We talk every now and then. I just tell her that I’m proud of her and to keep going. It’s kind of crazy seeing your college teammate play in the WNBA, so I’m always proud of her for that. I just tell her, ‘Keep going. You got it.’ There are a lot of people out here looking out for you and looking up to you, so just keep going and keep pushing.”

While Johnson and Fulwiley spent just one season as teammates, the former solidified herself as one of LSU’s college basketball legends, winning the program’s first national championship in 2023.

LSU Recruiting Takes A Hit As Kim Mulkey Loses Out On Multiple Prospects

While LSU’s rivals have made major strides in recruiting, Kim Mulkey’s 2026 freshman class so far has looked lackluster in comparison. As of this writing, Lola Lampley, the 29th best prospect from the 2026 class, per SportsCenter, is the only recruit that has committed to the Tigers.

Meanwhile, UConn has secured the signings of five-star prospect Olivia Vukosa, as well as international prospects Marine Dursus and Jovana Popovic. Meanwhile, South Carolina recruited five-star prospects Jerzy Robinson and Kaeli Wynn as well as overseas standout Justine Loubens.

While LSU still has a slew of standouts returning for next season in Fulwiley, Grace Knox, Mikaylah Williams, Kate Koval, and more, the lack of recruits is sure to cause alarm among fans.
