LSU Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey has been a coach for over 30 years. She has a reputation as a no-nonsense coach who would always be passionate. She is someone who wears her emotions on her sleeves.
Mulkey has always been public about her opinions, whether it is her former and current players, opponents, political matters, or something happening in the sporting world elsewhere.
Recently, NFL legend Bill Belichick was snubbed for a Hall of Fame inclusion. The 73-year-old coach started coaching in 1975 and quickly joined the NFL, where he racked up a 333-178 record, 31-13 in playoffs. He was the New England Patriots’ head coach for 23 years and saw a lot of success with them, winning six Super Bowls. Despite his success in the NFL, he was snubbed from the Hall of Fame.
Kim Mulkey reacted to the news, saying:
“Absolutely, I follow it. Let me tell you my Bill Belichick story. We were at the EPSYS one year and it’s about 5 in the morning LA time and I thought I was going to get up early and get to the workout room and beat everybody. And guess who was in there? The only person in there on one of the only two treadmills. It was this boutique hotel, but the treadmills were side by side.”
“So I had a great conversation with him. He was working, had his paperwork spread out in front of him, and I was, of cours,e jogging at the time. And man, I’ve jogged longer on that treadmill than I had in my life because I was picking his brain. And then I got back to Baylor and this huge box of New England Patriots gear with a note that said, ‘I know you’re in cowboy country, but I thought you might enjoy wearing this.’ So, I have much respect for him,” she added.
“I think it is petty. I think it’s a typical example of the media probably got their feelings hurt because when he would go to the media, he’d give one-word answers,” she concluded.
Kim Mulkey Heaps Praise On LSU Crowd
Mulkey has publicly spoken about the undivided and tremendous support that her LSU Tigers have received in recent times. Whenever LSU fans show up, it is a rather hostile environment for the opposition.
Kim Mulkey admitted that the crowd sometimes surprises her, obviously in a good way. She appreciates how the support always uplifts the LSU team and gives them a different energy to find success.
