The college basketball season is at the business end. We are at the doorstep of March Madness, and teams are ready to give it their all. But before that is senior day, which is always an emotional day for student-athletes. And that is how it was for Azzi Fudd and the UConn Huskies as well.
After finally winning the national championship with Geno Auriemma’s UConn last season, Fudd opted to play in her redshirt senior season. Despite being considered a top talent, Fudd has had injury struggles all her college career.
Last season, she found herself back at 100% fitness and was able to play the most games of her career at 34. After Paige Bueckers became the first pick in the 2025 WNBA draft, Azzi Fudd was the obvious candidate to become the next leader for UConn Huskies. Geno Auriemma trusts her, and she has fulfilled her role with some brilliance. It was obviously going to be an emotional day when the People’s Princess spent her senior day with her beloved teammates.
KK Arnold made sure to express how important Azzi Fudd has been in her life both on and off court.
“I did not know you like me. But I just had to realize that you just respect the energy that comes from me and ever since that ever since i adjusted to you, you adjusted to me, you’ve been a sister to me. I can’t express all the hard times I’ve had here whether it be off court, on court, with coaches yelling, “yughhh.” Of course KK’s speech included a hilarious Geno moment in between.
She continued to pour her heart out, saying to Fudd, “You have been having my back and kept pushing me to be the best version of myself everyday from on the court and off the court. I couldn’t have asked for a better sister. And now I’m just gonna think about the games that we have left. You’re a great person also off the court and that’s something I aspire to be.”
Fans react to KK Arnold’s heartfelt speech for Azzi Fudd
Fans were emotional after an honest and loving take on the partnership KK Arnold has with Azzi Fudd.
“I love the sisterhood of this UConn team. Definitely one of the best in UConn’s glorious history,” one fan said.
“Totally not crying rn,” another got emotional.
“KK love her momma fr,” another commented.
“So sweet,” one fan adored.
“So so sweet, we really gonna miss you Azzi,” one fan admitted.
Azzi Fudd is having another stellar season for the Huskies, averaging 17.9 points while shooting 49% from the field and 45% on 3-pointers, with 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game – all career-highs.
