The Florida Gators have secured a massive transfer, getting Penn State All-Big Ten Second Team guard Kiyomi McMiller. McMiller is a sophomore and thus has two years left of eligibility to play at Gainesville. She was one of the top offensive talents available this 2026 offseason in the transfer portal.
In a neat bookend, it also happens that head coach Tammi Reiss was interested in recruiting McMiller even as a junior out of high school. She said as much in a statement released following the news of McMiller’s commitment to Florida.
“I have waited a long time for this day to come,” said Reiss. “I was Kiyomi’s first P4 offer when I was at Syracuse and she came to our Elite camp in the fifth grade. I knew then that she would be a special talent.”
“I really want the opportunity to coach Ki and teach her the things that she will need to progress to the next level. Kiyomi is a relentless worker, lives in the gym, loves the game and wants to win. Obviously, she is extremely skilled, and her handle is the best I have ever seen from a female. She is a three-level scorer who can create her shot at any time and can really score,” she added.
“Ki is committed to becoming a leader and investing in her teammates. She is hungry to learn, hungry to work and hungry to win. Gainesville, we got a good one. Welcome to The Swamp and our Gators family Kiyomi,” she concluded.
Kyomi McMiller’s reaction to moving from Penn State to Florida
McMiller expressed equal excitement as Tammi Reiss, focusing on the opportunities a fresh start will afford her.
“I’m really excited,” McMiller, one of the top scorers in the country, said of her decision. “I’m ready to have a new start and just really show what I can do and put the world on notice.”
In 2025-26, she averaged 21.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the Nittany Lions. Her field goal percentage was 45%. She is a former five-star recruit and was considered the 17th-best player in the transfer portal this offseason. She also ranked the 12th-best scorer in the nation this last season.
