Is Sarah Strong Injured? Know More About UConn Huskies Star’s Status

UConn Huskies forward Sarah Strong will have big shoes to fill come her third year of college basketball in the 2026-27 season. Along with continuing to grow her skill set on the court, Strong is also expected to become the team’s next leader after star guards Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have moved on. But as the past two years have shown, Strong is up for the challenge.

This is why Strong’s full health is all the more important for the Huskies this season. While the campaign is still months away, Strong has focused on rehabilitating her Achilles heel injury this summer, which she affirmed should be at full strength soon. In addition to Strong’s status, a report by UConn insider Maggie Vanoni also noted that stalwart Blanca Quinonez is expected to fully recover from her shoulder injury by September or October.

Last season, Strong only missed one of the 39 games that the UConn Huskies played. And she played all 40 games when the Huskies won the national title in her freshman year. As time has shown, Strong’s durability and health have never been a question. But with a bigger and more important role next year, her conditioning and rehab this offseason will be as crucial as ever for the Huskies.

Sarah Strong recently admitted that she felt the Achilles injury for the entirety of last season

Despite playing 39 games for the UConn Huskies last year, Sarah Strong recently admitted that she felt the Achilles injury for the entirety of the season. In a report by UConn insider Daniel Connolly on X/Twitter, Strong revealed to the media that she first felt the injury last summer when she played for Team USA in Mongolia.

The precaution now for Strong’s injury not to worsen is for her not to participate in Huskies practices and workouts momentarily. UConn is looking at the bigger picture after all, as the program is seeking retribution for its 2026 NCAA Final Four loss. In this year’s NCAA Tournament, they were defeated by the South Carolina Gamecocks 62-48.
