Raven Johnson’s first big appearance in the WNBA was always going to be one to look out for, and she proved just what she’s capable of, starring in the Indiana Fever’s win over the New York Liberty.
A major part of the South Carolina women’s basketball team’s success over the last few years, Johnson was one of the most sought after names at the WNBA draft this year, and she did complete justice to all the hype with her preseason debut numbers.
To compound the success from Day 1 at the WNBA office, Raven Johnson received plenty of praise from her former head coach and forever supporter, Dawn Staley.

Raven Johnson Speaks About Play Call With Caitlin Clark
Fans were always going to look forward to Raven’s link up with the WNBA’s hottest name, Caitlin Clark, and following the preseason win, Johnson opened up about one such moment on the court with her new teammate.
“She’s the one (Caitlin Clark) that I’ve been asking a lot of questions to,” Johnson said. “Actually, she helps me a lot. I’m like, ‘What is red?’ And she says, ‘It’s trap,’ and I’m like wow, it’s that simple –“
The honest and fun admission about team strategy might have been a slip from Johnson, but it won’t matter much, as the Fever will hope she can hit her stride before the new campaign begins.
