Women’s college basketball has seen a lot of great players this season. UConn duo Azzi Fudd, Sarah Strong, LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson, Vanderbilt’s Mikayla Blakes, South Carolina’s Raven Johnson, Joyce Edwards, UCLA’s Lauren Betts, Texas’ Madison Booker, TCU’s Olivia Miles, Iowa State’s Audi Crooks, and Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo are just some names that gathered the most attention with their game this year.
One of the most important positions for any team is a shooting guard, and there have been multiple great performances in that position this season. Fudd has led UConn to an unbeaten season so far. She has been averaging 17.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 33 games in her redshirt senior season. Vanderbilt’s Blakes has probably been one of the best players, regardless of position.
She has been averaging 27 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 31 games. LSU’s Johnson has been one of the most brilliant players, and now in her senior year, she has been averaging 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. South Carolina’s newest addition, Ta’Niya Latson, also had a great season with 14.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. UCLA’s Gianna Kneepkens averages 13.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Now one of these five players is set to win the prestigious NCAA award.
