Dawn Staley Slams Reporter Over Controversial Take On Former South Carolina Star

South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has always shown big support to all her players. Whether it be her current players or former ones. She has been vocal and has often taken it to her X account to speak out in favour of different and this time was no different.

Recently Golden State Valkyries have decided to waive away a lot of their players. They have especially let go of all the players from this year’s draft. They have waived away Marta Suarez, Ashlon Jackson, Mariella, Fasoula, Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, Miela Sowah, Cate Reese and most importantly Kate Martin.

While reporting the waiving for Martin, insider Matt Lively posted on X while mentioning how Valkyires opted to keep Kaitlyn Chen from UConn and Laeticia Amihere from South Carolina instead of fan favorite Kate Martin. Staley did not like it and made her voice heard.

“Not cool to actually use other players names specifically Laeticia Amihere for your personal preface. I hope if you cover the Valkyries you can unbiasedly do so moving forward,” Dawn Staley posted.

Matt Lively reported, “Kate Martin is the final cut from the Valkyries. They opt to keep Kaitlyn Chen and Laeticia Amihere over Martin. The move makes sense in terms of need but Martin is an incredibly popular player with a fan base that shows up in every city.”
