Star guard Azzi Fudd was recently part of a video where the UConn women’s basketball girls talk funnily about their head coach, Geno Auriemma. Fudd committed to Auriemma’s UConn program straight out of high school since 2021. The duo won the championship last season and looks forward to repeating this season.
Along the way, the girls on the UConn team tried to have fun around their head coach. Fudd said she finds it funny when Auriemma has his mouth open during a game on the sidelines:
“Him on the side, just like… Yeah, his mouth’s always open.”
Fudd also pointed out how the head coach often points out mistakes by referring to his experience of 40 years.
“I haven’t heard this one as much this year, but it’s usually like, ‘Never in my 40 years have I seen so-and-so,’ and you’re like, you’ve been here for 40 years, you’ve definitely seen this,” she said.
Fudd also mentioned and tied Auriemma with “sarcasm and wit.”
Other girls also spoke about Auriemma, with one saying:
“He thinks he’s really funny.”
One girl said Auriemma’s texting style is formal:
“The way he texts too, he just says, ‘hey, period. It’s just very terrifying.”
Most girls appear to be fond of their head coach and have kept a close eye on several unnoticed things.
Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers Once Shared Verdict on Geno Auriemma’s Outfits
Back in March 2025, former UConn teammates Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers reviewed Geno Auriemma’s outfits with Ice Brady. Upon watching the photo of the head coach in UConn shorts and a pullover, Fudd commented:
“He looks so sassy in this. Why does he look sassy?”
“Wow. I’ve never seen in shots that short before,” Ice Brady added.
There were some other outfits discussed as well, with the trio finding them cool but disapproved two photos involving red ties.
While Bueckers was drafted last year, Fudd will probably declare for the WNBA after the ongoing basketball season. Fudd, a key member of the current starting unit, has played a big hand in keeping the program undefeated after 23 games. They face the DePaul Blue Demons next.
