UConn’s Allie Ziebell Joins Maya Moore And 2 Other Huskies For Special Record That Even Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Paige Bueckers Don’t Have

Geno Auriemma at UConn Huskies has always produced some of the best talents in women’s basketball. His coaching career started in 1977. In his esteemed 40+ years at UConn, he has nurtured so many great players. Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, Paige Bueckers, and Azzi Fudd are just a few of them.

The latest player to show her extreme quality in a UConn jersey was Allie Ziebell. Ever since Paige Bueckers’ departure, all eyes have been on Azzi Fudd and then some on Sarah Strong. Both players have proved to be the next big thing for the Huskies. Another name that keeps getting attention due to her willpower, dedication and talent is KK Arnold.

However, staying just under the radar, Allie Ziebell has cemented herself as one of the players Geno trusts the most. Her involvement off the bench is an important part of the plan for coach Auriemma. If anyone had any doubts about that, she recently enriched her name in UConn history books. She also tied a special UConn record that only three other players have achieved before her.

Allie Ziebell scored the most points off the bench in UConn history vs Xavier. Allie scored 34 points with 11-15 FG and 10 three-pointers. Only three Huskies before her had scored 10 three pointers in one game, and that list surprisingly doesn’t include the absolute greats like Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Sue Bird or Paige Bueckers.

The only four players in UConn history to hit 10 three pointers are –

    Maya Moore Jan. 17, 2009 Syracuse 10
    Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis Nov. 14, 2014 UC Davis 10
Katie Lou Samuelson March 6, 2017 South Florida 10
    Allie Ziebell Jan. 28, 2026 Xavier 10

Fans React to Allie Ziebell Making UConn History

Fans were just as excited for Ziebell, if not more than her teammates, as 20-year-old guard brokethe  UConn record.

“Wow! this is some serious history considering all the greats they’ve had!! natty otw!!” One fan predicted.

“34 piece and only played 29 min,” another fan commented.

“Only UConn would have someone who can score 30 off the bench,” another said.

“She was unstoppable her and Strong and with Heckle coming off the bench, the way she plays defensively even after AZZI leaves UCONN will still be very good!!!!!” One fan showed excitement.

“And only the 4th Husky ever to shoot for 10 3’s in a game!” Another fan noted.

“That’s because UCONN deep bench is better than everyone else’s starting 5,” another claimed.
