Will Dante Moore Declare for the Draft? What We Know About Oregon QB’s NFL Future

Dante Moore is coming off what many would call his most disappointing performance of the year and perhaps of his college career. However, the Oregon Ducks quarterback doesn’t have much time to shake it off and decide what’s next.

Moore has until Wednesday, Jan. 14, to declare for the NFL Draft. The deadline is fast approaching, but what has the quarterback decided? Here’s a look at what we know.

    Dante Moore’s NFL Draft Decision

At the time of writing, Dante Moore hasn’t declared one way or the other as to his intentions for 2026. In a statement delivered after his loss to Indiana via Draft Wire, Moore was less than willing to commit to anything.

“I want to soak this moment up, that’s most important,” Moore said. “Just giving hugs and just thank you’s to my teammates, but at the end of the day, I don’t know my decision yet.”

Oregon has prepared for a future already without Moore, as the team picked up Dylan Raiola in a move that seemingly would give the team its starter after Moore moves on, whether that is this season or next season.

Of course, the presence of Raiola opens the door to a disastrous scenario for Moore, where his playoff loss revealed a blueprint to beat him, which would potentially lead to an early Raiola sighting in 2026, even if Moore isn’t ready to hand over the starting job.

As such, based on the way the wind is blowing, Moore has added reason to make the leap this offseason rather than stick around and play with fire. However, the decision is up to him. However, if he misses the deadline, the decision would be made for him.

Dante Moore’s Predecessors Show Timing Isn’t Everything

As Dante Moore ponders his future, one could look at his recent predecessor. As Moore could do, Bo Nix left after two years at Oregon. He went on to explode in the NFL as a member of the Denver Broncos, leading the AFC in winning record.

However, leaving after throwing for 30 touchdowns and ten interceptions leans toward Dillon Gabriel’s level, who, after throwing for 30 touchdowns and six interceptions, is still looking for his first strong NFL foothold after losing the Cleveland Browns starting job to Shedeur Sanders.
