The Oregon Ducks under the stewardship of head coach Dan Lanning concluded their regular 2025 college football season with an overall record of 11-1, which naturally propelled them into the playoffs.
After defeating the likes of James Madison and Texas Tech in their respective round one and quarterfinal fixtures, they succumbed to the no. 1 seed Indiana Hoosiers in what was a blowout 56-22 loss for the Oregon-based program.
Despite losing their CFP semifinal encounter with a massive 34-point margin, CFB insider Andy Staples is still confident in Dan Lanning and his side to achieve great heights in college football in the years to come.
In a recent conversation with Jim Rome, Staples started off by acknowledging how, despite Oregon running into a couple of juggernauts, likely referring to their semifinal loss against the Hoosiers, they have a roster that, when it clicks, will be difficult for other teams to beat.
He then went on to make a bold prediction, opining that Oregon will win the national championship in the next five years.
“I think Dan Lanning is going to win a national title in the next five years”, Staples stated (0:15).
“Dan Lanning is getting closer every single time. and I don’t think it’s going to to be forever for dan lanning I think if he keeps putting together rosters the way he’s putting them together and keeps Coaching the team the way he’s coaching it. He is going to break through because he’s doing everything you have to do to do it”, he further elaborated (0:56).
Host Jim Rome after hearing Staples’ analysis of Lanning and the Ducks altogether stated that he is still buying stock in Dan Lanning whilst also describing him as relentless and a great coach.
Ducks Reinforce Roster With Dylan Raiola Commitment
The Oregon Ducks, after reaching the 2025 CFP semifinals, have already started reinforcing their squad to go the extra mile come next season.
Former Nebraska Cornhuskers QB Dylan Raiola, after announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal earlier this season, has officially announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks ahead of the 2026 season.
With rumors looming around Ducks’ star QB Dante Moore potentially entering the 2026 NFL draft, it won’t come as a surprise if Raiola starts for Oregon right away.
