    Who Is Bryan Blair? All We Know About Syracuse’ New Athletic Director After Toledo Gig

    Syracuse University has reportedly agreed to hire Bryan Blair as its new athletic director, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Wednesday. The deal is still subject to final board approval on Thursday, and the announcement is expected to be made soon.

    Since Blair has been the talk of the town on social media, many are eager to learn about the incoming Syracuse athletic director.

    Bryan Blair has been serving as the athletic director at Toledo since 2022. He is set to replace John Wildhack, who retired after 10 years, at Syracuse.

    According to reports, Blair worked in the athletic departments at Washington State, Rice and South Carolina in various roles before he was hired at Toledo.

    Blair played college football at Wofford from 2003 to 2006, where he was team captain. He graduated from the school with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

    Blair also earned a law degree from the University of South Carolina in 2010.

    Blair is married to his wife, Jenna. The couple has two children, daughter Brielle and son Beau.

    A Look at Bryan Blair’s Administrative Roles at Different Schools and Success at Toledo

    Here’s a look at the timeline of the administrative roles that Blair held at various schools:

    • 2022-present: Vice President and Director of Athletics, The University of Toledo
    • 2018-22: Deputy Athletic Director/COO, Washington State University
    • 2014-18: Senior Associate Athletic Director, Rice University
    • 2012-14: Assistant Director of Compliance Services, University of South Carolina
    • 2011-12: Compliance Coordinator, Rice University
    • 2010-11: Academic and Membership Affairs Postgraduate Intern, NCAA

    In the 2022-23 school year at Toledo, Blair oversaw a school-record of six MAC Championships — in football, women’s cross country, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis.

    In total, Blair oversaw a Toledo athletic department that won 13 MAC championships across four years.
