The Sherrone Moore Scandal has rocked the University of Michigan in its entirety, as its respected head coach was dealing with serious issues, and the school was aware before firing him. Now, new developments have been revealed, as Moore’s alleged former mistress, Paige Shiver, has made new allegations, not against Moore, but the school itself.
Shiver served as the executive assistant to Sherrone Moore and was involved with him for several years while he was still married. When she broke up with him, Moore reportedly began stalking her, culminating in him breaking into her home and threatening to commit suicide before getting arrested. Now, she alleges that the school has failed to protect her from him after they fired him.
The Action Injury Law Group, which represents Shiver, released a statement on her behalf, alleging that there was a “powerful head coach and a subordinate employee” dynamic between her and Moore. In addition, Moore had created an environment where Shiver felt “pressured, intimidated and unable to escape” and added that this should never even have occurred in a respected public university such as Michigan.
Paige Shiver’s Attorney Releases Statement on Sherrone Moore Case
Andrew M. Stroth, the attorney representing Paige Shiver, spoke to The Detroit News on Monday:
“The University of Michigan is one of the prominent institutions in the world, but there’s a culture in the athletic department that has hurt Ms. Shiver and others,” he said. “He took advantage of a younger, female employee.”
Stroth emphasized that the university was aware of how unstable Sherrone Moore was becoming but still failed to take action.
“Leadership knew and failed to act to protect her,” he added. “This isn’t something that happened overnight, it happened a long period of time.”
The school, reportedly, was already aware of the relationship between Shiver and Moore, and it was Shiver who had reported that he had been stalking and harassing her after she had broken up with him. The school was also aware of the mental health issues Moore had been facing before firing him over his relationship with Shiver.
