Steve Sarkisian has been going viral for his bold statements in this year’s offseason, first he took a shot at Pete Golding’s Ole Miss and then took a jab at Joey McGuire’s Texas Tech.
The Texas head coach shared that he believes there is a team that he could beat with his twos and threes, that plays in their state that and belongs to another conference, pointing towards the fact that they Red Raiders will likely make it to the Playoffs this year because of their easy schedule.
The Texas Tech head coach and board chairman didn’t appreciate Sarkisian’s comments and even offered to actually set up a game against the Longhorns in week 1, offering to pay for the buyout for both of the team’s first games of the season.
College football analyst Joel Klatt shared his thoughts on Sarkisian’s statements and said:
“They’re calling Sark’s bluff. So if you want to complain about their schedule, go play them. Sark has been talking a lot this offseason, right? And he called out Texas Tech’s schedule, and Tech responded. If Sark wanted to take this challenge on and he wanted to go out there with his twos and threes, he wouldn’t do it with his twos and threes. They could absolutely play week one. Texas Tech, I believe, would absolutely do this, and I believe they would absolutely pay for it. The question is, would Texas do it? The answer is absolutely not.” Klatt said on Wednesday.
Steve Sarkisian Weighs In on Arch Manning’s Confidence Level Ahead of 2026 College Football Season
Arch Manning’s hype ahead of the 2025 season was like no other the country had seen in a while, with analysts like Paul Finebaum projecting him to win the Heisman Trophy, lead the Longhorns to the playoffs in his first year as a starter, and secure the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
However, the Texas QB did take some time to find his rhythm last year as he struggled in the first few games.
Talking about Manning’s mindset ahead of the 2026 season, Steve Sarkisian told Greg McElroy:
“There’s this real sense of confidence that he has not only in himself but also a belief in the system, the guys around him, and the confidence to lead. This feels like his team.”
Manning ended the 2025 college football season with 3,163 passing yards, while also scoring 26 touchdowns against just seven interceptions.
