While former Alabama Crimson Tide star Tua Tagovailoa came into the Miami Dolphins with a ton of hype, he ultimately failed to perform well during the 2025-2026 season. This has resulted in the Dolphins deciding to release the quarterback ahead of the upcoming 2026-2027 season. This will result in Miami clearing some cap space and probably being in the market for some big-name free agents moving forward.
This means that when he officially gets released, there will be several teams that might be vying for Tua Tagovailoa despite his underperformance last season. The question right now is, which team would be willing to pay him a lot of money and take him in, as picking him up would be considered a massive gamble.
5 Possible Landing Spots for Tua Tagovailoa
New York Jets
Before the Dolphins released Tua Tagovailoa, reports indicated that the New York Jets had shown a lot of interest in the former Alabama QB. However, they would now have to sign him as a free agent and not trade for him.
One barrier to this happening is that the Jets are also interested in recently released former Raiders QB Geno Smith. However, Smith has stated that his preferred destination is Miami, so if this could happen, Tua might end up in New York.
Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have had a less-than-stellar season and are also on the hunt for a new QB. They have also shown some interest in Tua Tagovailoa, and he may be a good fit there given how good the Falcons’ offensive line is shaping up to be.
Arizona Cardinals
After releasing Kyler Murray, it is clear that they are looking for a new QB as well, and this is where Tagovailoa may come in. They have a new head coach in Mike LaFleur, too, and this could make the desert a promising destination for the quarterback.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings have an excellent offensive team, though many attributed their struggles last season to the lack of a good quarterback. While taking Tagovailoa might be a gamble, the Vikings might just be desperate enough to take that move.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are playing the long game with QB Tyler Shough, but they may also possibly make a move on Tagovailoa as a possible backup. The question is, will the former Alabama star accept such a demotion?
