Now-former Union High School football coach Travis Turner has caused an uproar in Wise County, Virginia, as local and state police, as well as the FBI and the US Marshal Service, are all looking for him. He is wanted for allegedly possessing child p*rn*graphy and also for trying to solicit a minor, and he has since disappeared when all of his allegations came to light.
The FBI has now released an update on the investigation, and the bureau revealed that they are still looking for him. Travis Turner disappeared last November just as Special Agents from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations tried visiting him in his Appalachian home.
Authorities already consider him a fugitive, and he is facing five counts of possession of child p*rn*graphy and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.
Virginia State Police released a statement on the status of their ongoing search for the former football coach:
“Police are actively searching for Turner, who is considered a fugitive,” the statement said. “Since his disappearance, VSP has utilized numerous assets, including search and rescue teams, drones, and k9s, to assist in the search. VSP’s main priority is locating Turner safely.”
No credible sightings of the coach have been reported so far, but they are currently checking on over 178 national and international leads, with authorities revealing that a lot of the leads have so far been unfounded.
How Much Is the Reward For Information Leading to the Capture and Arrest of Travis Turner?
As a high school football coach over at Union High School, Travis Turner worked closely with minors, and his soliciting minors and being caught in possession of child p*rn has caused great concern for the community. With several agencies now looking for him, including a non-profit called the Black Diamond Search and Rescue team, a lot of resources have been used just to find him, but to no avail.
This has led the US Marshals Service to issue a $5,000 reward for any information that could lead to his capture or arrest. So far, a lot of the reports have not proven to be credible, as police are still looking for him to this day.
