Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning recently made an appearance at a Texas Longhorns men’s basketball game. The Longhorns quarterback was welcomed with thunderous applause and cheers by the fans.
Manning was also seen shooting Longhorns t-shirts out of a cannon toward the fans in the arena. The 21-year-old attended the game against the Oklahoma Sooners at Moody Center, which the Longhorns lost 85-88.
He also did some throwing practice on the court, throwing Longhorns merch into the crowd before signing off. The 2025 season was Manning’s first stint as the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns.
He entered the season with high expectations. He was even considered among the early Heisman favorites for the season. However, Manning failed to live up to the expectations, and the Longhorns failed to make their mark as well.
Manning recorded over 3100 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He showed flashes of brilliance throughout the season, but Manning’s inconsistency kept him from realizing his full potential.
Many believed that the 21-year-old would declare for the NFL Draft this year and head to the big leagues. The quarterback decided to stay with the Longhorns for one more season and develop as a player.
The added motivation for Manning is that he’s still chasing the national title. With more experience, a stronger team, and Steve Sarkisian’s guidance, the Longhorns are more likely to make that push next season.
Once Manning finishes his collegiate run, an NFL career is nearly guaranteed, considering the talent he possesses. It also helps that he comes from the most celebrated family in the history of football.
Arch Manning’s Head Coach on Building His Team
At the beginning of the last season, Steve Sarkisian’s team was rated very highly. They were seen as strong title contenders. Once again, Sarkisian is preparing a team that will compete for the national title.
Sarkisian said that having 43 good players in a team is the easy part. The coach’s main job is to ensure that the players act and play like a team.
“I touched on that with the team (in January). I looked around the room, and I said, ‘We’ve got a very talented group of individuals in this room, and now our job is to become a really talented team’,” he said.
Sarkisian believes that this year, he has done a better job at developing a culture within the Longhorns program.
