“I Can’t Stand Him” – Valentin Vacherot’s Abuse Ignites Debate Over Carlos Alcaraz or Player Box Target

Fans online recently expressed their opinions on the on-court hostility that transpired during the Monte-Carlo Masters semifinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Valentin Vacherot. The Spaniard ended Vacherot’s run on Saturday afternoon 6-4, 6-4 on Court Rainier III to enter the ATP Masters event.

Vacherot defeated the likes of Alex De Minaur, Hubert Hurkacz, and Lorenzo Musetti to reach the final four. With this, he became the first Monegasque to reach a Monte-Carlo quarterfinal and semifinal in the Open Era. However, the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters champion was forced to end his campaign after the defending champion converted three of four break points. What stirred the debate between tennis enthusiasts was Vacherot’s reaction to the defeat.

While some fans claimed that Vacherot abused the Spaniard, the others backed the Monegasque. One of the fans shared video oh his reaction, claiming Vacherot called him a ‘wh**e.’

“Vacherot insulted Alcaraz in french,” the fan wrote. “Espèce de putain” meaning ‘you f*cking whore’ What a sore loser and horrible character.”

To this, another fan opined that the alleged abuse was hurled at the player’s box, writing:

“That was likey at his box. Lol.”

“I can’t stand him. We hate Canadians in Florida whe they visit. Rudest people on the planet,” another one wrote.

Another fan shared a similar view, stating:

“What are you even saying, at no point does he address Alcaraz.”

A few other fans suggested that the claimed abuse does not even exist, with one of them writing:

“Bullsh*t. If you knew French, you would know that this is not a sentence that exists.”

“I’m French. No one says « espèce de putain »,” another fan chimed in.
