Former World No. 1 and 23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams bid adieu to her professional tennis career in September 2022. Since then, Williams has turned her attention to becoming a successful entrepreneur, headlining various events, and, most importantly, taking care of her daughters, Olympia and Adira, alongside her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
On Wednesday, Williams was invited as a guest on the Today show, where she had a lively discussion with the host on various topics. The presenter pulled up one of Williams’s latest social media videos, showing the 44-year-old hitting some balls.
At the same time, her daughters played on the adjacent courts and asked her whether Olympia and Adira liked the sport. Both her daughters have showcased active interest in the sport, but the tennis legend feels otherwise.
“That’s Adira. She’s just too cute. And then there’s Olympia. Olympia. I mean, it’s like generations of tennis on that court. That’s what I was thinking. I don’t know. I mean, Olympia doesn’t; the oldest Olympia, she’s eight, she doesn’t love it [tennis]. Okay. Um, Adira, she’s too young,” Serena said.
Most recently, Williams was spotted having a fun day out with her daughters at an amusement park, where the trio could be seen riding various rides and making a day of it. While Williams has her fun days with Olympia and Adira, she also takes them to court for practice
Serena Williams Brands Her Daughters Playing the Sport as ‘Generational Wealth Tennis’
On Monday, Williams shared a video on social media in which she could be seen practicing hitting balls on the court. At the same time, the camera zooms, and her daughters, Olympia and Adira, could be observed doing the same on the adjacent courts. Williams wrote an endearing caption for the post: “Generational Wealth Tennis.”
While the only player in the history of the sport to complete a career golden slam in both singles and doubles provides a healthy and safe path for her daughters to explore the sport according to their will, only time will tell whether Williams’ daughters turn out to be her reflection on court when they grow up.
