The draw is out for the 2026 Stuttgart Open, and Coco Gauff will get a first-round bye to begin her clay season. Gauff’s best result here is making it to the quarterfinals. She would like to do better in this edition.
After making it to the finals of the 2026 Miami Open, Gauff would like to continue with another deep run in the Stuttgart Open. However, her job would not be easy as her draw involves multiple Grand Slam champions and Top 10 players in contention.
Coco Gauff’s Stuttgart 2026 Bracket Revealed
Coco Gauff has been given the second seed in the women’s singles draw, and as a result, she gets a free pass in the first round. In the second round, she will face the winner of Liudmila Samsonova vs Antonia Ružić. While Samsonova brings power and can be dangerous indoors, Ružić is a wildcard-type threat with nothing to lose.
Things get serious when we reach the quarterfinals round. There, Gauff is likely to face either Karolína Muchová or Elise Mertens. Muchova has troubled Gauff in the past, while Mertens has been consistent on the court.
If Gauff manages to get past the quarterfinals, Elina Svitolina/Ekaterina Alexandrova/Paula Badosa could be waiting for her in the semifinals. Svitolina has already beaten twice this year, in the Australian Open quarterfinals and in the Dubai Tennis Championship semifinals. Gauff might find it easier against Alexandrova or Badosa than Svitolina, thanks to a better head-to-head record.
If the two-time Grand Slam champion reaches the final, she could face either Elena Rybakina/Iga Świątek/Mirra Andreeva/Jasmine Paolini/Jeļena Ostapenko. Świątek and Rybakina are former Stuttgart champions. Ostapenko is the defending champion. Moreover, Paolini and Andreeva are both rising stars in the WTA.
Therefore, it’s easy to see why it won’t be easy for Gauff to start her clay season on a high note.
Coco Gauff Embroiled With Controversey Before Arriving in Stuttgart
Coco Gauff and the internet have had a rocky relationship this year. First, when she smashed her racket privately following her Australian Open exit, it became a big talking point on the internet. Then just before the clay season, she has once again become the subject of trolling among fans.
She recently shot for the Miu Miu campaign, promoting their luxurious handbag. However, her appearance – red polo shirt, blue skirt, and hair in bun style – received immense backlash. Fans believe Gauff could have done better.
After receiving a lot of backlash, Gauff addressed the criticism head-on, denying to apologize for how she looked. She revealed the details of the photoshoot and how casual the setting was compared to a professional backdrop. She also said she was representing girls who have the same kind of hair and how damaging it could be to go with a slick hairstyle.
