Chris Evert recently offered a glimpse of an adorable family moment in her latest social media update.
Evert, who is currently undergoing treatment following her third cancer diagnosis, shared a wholesome moment with her niece, Remi. She posted a mirror selfie from Aspen on Instagram on Friday, in which she donned a white floral dress while her niece wore a brown outfit.
The post’s caption read:
“Celebrating in Aspen with my beautiful niece, Remi❤️”
After her sister, Jeanne Evert Dubin, died from ovarian cancer in 2020, Chris Evert underwent genetic testing in December 2021 and learned that she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation. She then had a preventive hysterectomy, during which doctors discovered Stage 1C ovarian cancer.
Evert underwent six rounds of chemotherapy in 2022 and was declared cancer-free. Later that year, she also had a preventive double mastectomy in December. In late 2023, the former tennis player announced that her ovarian cancer had returned, and after undergoing further treatment, she was declared cancer-free once again in 2024.
However, during her routine check-up in June this year, doctors found that the ovarian cancer had returned for a third time.
What did Chris Evert say about her third diagnosis?
In June, Chris Evert announced that she was stepping away from her professional commitments after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer for the third time. She shared a note on Instagram, revealing that the third diagnosis was found after she went through her regular CT and PET scans.
Explaining that she would miss this year’s Wimbledon to focus on her treatment and recovery, Evert wrote:
“I have always believed in being open and honest about my health journey. This past weekend, after undergoing CT and PET scans, I learned that my ovarian cancer has returned. I have already undergone surgery as the first step in my treatment and recovery, and will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. Because of this, I will not be attending Wimbledon this year, and I will step back from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus on my health,” wrote Chris Evert.
She added:
“Ovarian cancer is relentless, but I will stay optimistic and determined in continuing to fight this battle. I am deeply grateful to my medical team, my family, friends, and everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement. I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.”
