Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman continue to prove that they are one of the most dynamic young power couples in sports. It is not just because of their talent but because of their shared mindset.
While Shelton has become one of the most exciting personalities in tennis with his celebrations and attitude, Rodman has been carving out her own identity as a confident star in women’s soccer.
That connection was on full display recently when Rodman opened up about wanting to see more intensity, attitude, and even trash talk in her sport. Her comments instantly drew attention, especially because they echoed sentiments that Shelton himself has expressed about tennis in the past.
In a conversation with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson at the Good Sports talk show, the soccer player not only highlighted her competitive spirit but also showed just how in sync she and Shelton truly are. Speaking candidly about more trash talk in women’s soccer, she said that she wishes it happened more in the sport.
“No, we I feel like we don’t really talk trash. I think we need that more in women’s soccer. I’ve been trying to talk, but nobody talks back. So I definitely think we need more of that. And I’m going to try to get under people’s skin more, I think.”
When asked to provide an example, she went on to say,
“I feel like I’m more so like tackle somebody and like, step over them type, you know what I’m saying?” said Ben Shelton.
In 2023, Jessica Pegula posted a tweet on X, asking fans about what they thought of introducing trash talk in tennis. Replying to this poll, Shelton shared his views, which were very similar to his girlfriend’s thoughts as mentioned above. He wrote:
“I’m in😏. Adds to the atmosphere of college tennis🔥” Ben Shelton wrote.
Rodman’s latest outing on the soccer field came in the game between USWNT and Chile, where her team claimed a 5-0 win, with the 23-year-old making the winning goal.
Shelton, on the other hand, was last seen in action at the Australian Open. His run at the major came to an end at the quarterfinal round against Jannik Sinner on January 28.

The latter delivered a stunning performance, registering a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 win.
