“So Ridiculous”: Fans Disagree With Trinidad Chambliss’ Stance on Lane Kiffin’s Comments on Ole Miss

Trinidad Chambliss tried to avoid controversy while responding to Lane Kiffin, who has become the enemy of Ole Miss fans after making controversial comments about his former employers following his move to LSU.

In an article published by Vanity Fair in May, Kiffin suggested that past ties to Confederate symbols had made it more difficult to recruit players to Ole Miss than LSU, which he praised for its diversity.

Chambliss addressed Kiffin’s comments on Friday.

“Me, personally, I don’t agree,” Chambliss told reporters. “I don’t think that what he said was truthful. … The Oxford community is nothing but love, and they care about their people no matter what they look like: brown, black, purple, yellow — you know what I mean?”

Chambliss also made it clear that Coach Kiffin played a major role in his decision to come to Ole Miss, and he doesn’t hold any ill will toward the coach.

However, his comments about his former head coach and Ole Miss in general haven’t gone down too well with some fans.

What Did Lane Kiffin Say About Ole Miss?

While Lane Kiffin made multiple comments about his former employers after moving to LSU, perhaps one message was more important than others.

Kiffin mentioned to Vanity Fair that he had many recruits come and tell him, “Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.”

“That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” he continued.

Kiffin later clarified that his comments were “factual” and not meant to be seen as shots at Ole Miss.
