After firing James Franklin, Penn State took a big hit in its high school recruitment. However, when Matt Campbell took over as their new head coach, he got the ball rolling on recruitment again and securing more high school recruits even though he also lost a few.
Penn State, while a perennial powerhouse, did not get any five-stars yet, with their highest recruit being only a four-star. However, that may mainly be due to the volatility of a coaching change, turning off many players recruited by the previous coach. The question is, who are the biggest commitments for Matt Campbell for the Nittany Lions?

Penn State only has two recruits who are rated four-stars, with the rest being considered three-stars, and both of them are EDGEs. But who among them would be the better choice over the other?
According to 247Sports, Jackson Ford, who is already enrolled to Penn State, is ranked higher, as he is the No. 27 EDGE in the nation and the No. 8 overall in the state on Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Elijah Reeder is the No. 36 EDGE in the country and the No. 4 player in the state of New Jersey. Reeder’s rating is 90, while Jackson is rated at 91.
None of Penn State’s recruits are nationally ranked either, though they do hold a lot of promise, especially with a new coach and a new system ready to move on from the Drew Allar era. It should be interesting to see of any of them are diamonds in the rough.
