Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Reveals Emotional Reason Behind LA 2028 Olympic Comeback for Her Unborn Child

Track star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is pivoting to something completely different from her recent endeavors. Levrone is a soon-to-be mom with her first child, due in July. This comes as the Olympic champion tries to balance her current competitive ambitions as she gears up for a new chapter in her life.

Levrone tied the knot with Andre Levrone Jr. back in 2022, and the couple has since shared glimpses of their personal and professional lives, with the most recent one being the excitement surrounding Levrone’s pregnancy as they expect to welcome their first child in July.

As they go through this remarkable journey, Levrone has revealed her aim at the LA 2028 Olympics, which is not centered around breaking records or winning gold. Her pivotal reason for a track comeback is her unborn child, whom she wants to witness her compete at the highest level. Her child will be two years old by the time the LA Olympics hit the stage, adding more meaning to her comeback.

She also mentioned how dialing back her training at the moment has helped her maintain great focus on her unborn child and has joined the legendary list of “track moms” who have balanced motherhood alongside championship victories.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Talks about Her 400m Expectations

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has conquered unparalleled track feats but has yet to break the 400m flat record, set by the German track legend Marita Koch. However, when asked if she has plans to go after the record, Levrone dismissed the idea of being hung up on the chase and spoke about records being broken when they’re supposed to.

“I think records come when they’re supposed to come, and I think it’s about taking it one day at a time, and I don’t really like to get too hung up on this is what I have to do and I have to break this, but I think really when the preparations are there, when the motivations are there, and when everything comes into alignment, that’s when those kinds of things happen,” she said.

Levrone’s best on the track has been a 47.78-second run from the 2025 World Athletics Championships, and through her transition into motherhood, she remains firmly on course for her Olympic return.
