Nebraska Volleyball Revealed as Nation’s Top Spender at Over $7 Million in FY2025

The total expenditure of Nebraska’s volleyball program stood at a whopping $7 million in FY2025, topping the list among its 15 rival competitors, all part of the Big Ten league.

This comes amid the surge of college volleyball with its goal of positioning the sport as a commercial and competitive force.

College volleyball has been seeing a competitive boom with record-breaking events and rising star athletes who are elevating the sport’s investment profile to new heights.

As per a report by college sports analyst Matt Brown, the Nebraska volleyball program spent more money on its program than any of its rivals, followed by Iowa, Wisconsin, and Texas.

College sports programs are destined to spend a huge amount to keep their athletic endeavors up and running, and the Cornhuskers are no strangers to this.

As per their historical audit reports, the money is spent on creating facilities, scholarship programs, coaches’ salaries, travel expenses, staff, etc., all of which are aimed at making their program stand as the very best in the nation.

Nebraska has also received the fruits of its spending, specifically through its prowess of attracting record numbers of audiences and creating exhilarating match environments, which has today made it the most visible brand of college volleyball.

The spending chart has also revealed that all 16 Big Ten volleyball programs, beyond Nebraska, have ranked in the top 35 nationally in spending. This highlights how every team in the Big Ten is spending big, and, through this have created a power gap that only makes it harder for other teams in the competition to catch up.

Nebraska’s Bergen Rielly Talks about Balancing Social Life with Game Practice

Nebraska’s three-time Big Ten setter Bergen Rielly spoke on balancing her social life alongside training as she gears up for the upcoming spring match in Sioux Falls. During the interview, Rielly spoke about how the team has stuck together despite maintaining their strict training rhythm.

“We had to focus more on eating meals together, cuz usually we come to practice an hour early and just sit in the locker room and talk and hang out, so we’ve been just working on things outside of practice and hope to grow and spring’s always a good time to build the relationships and grow the bonds, so we’re finding ways, and it’s different but it’s working for us,” she said (3:47).

This trip to Sioux Falls is a homecoming for Reilly, and she will be seen competing alongside the Huskers against Iowa State on Saturday.
