Alysa Liu and Laufey’s “Stateside” Dance Goes Viral as PinkPantheress Reacts

Alysa Liu was recently seen channeling her artistic side alongside Icelandic singer Laufey on PinkPantheress’ trending “Stateside” song. Following her historic run at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, Liu announced her decision to withdraw from the 2026 ISU World Championships held in Prague, Czechia, in March.

However, she has been keeping quite busy, attending multiple media engagements and prominent events. Amid this, she was seen collaborating with the Icelandic singer for a short video on the song “Stateside” by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, on which she also performed during the Exhibition Gala in Italy.

While Laufey opted for a white dress, Liu was seen donning a retro orange color block mini dress, which she paired with a headband and boots. Laufey shared the video on Instagram and captioned:

“Welcome to the party 🌼🧡.”

Their dance went viral, and the British singer couldn’t help but react.

“OKAAAAAYYYYY😍,” PinkPantheress wrote. 

After winning two gold medals at the 2026 Winter Games, Liu showed her mesmerizing skills during the Exhibition Gala, performing to “Stateside.” Following her performance, the song took over the internet. It rose to No. 13 from No. 41 on the particular week’s Billboard Hot 100. It was also at the top spot on Spotify’s US and global songs chart.

According to Luminate Data, the song received approximately 1.1 million on-demand streams in the country on February 21, the day when the Olympic Figure Skating Exhibition Gala was held.

Alysa Liu Opens Up On Making Her Own Choices

Alysa Liu retired from figure skating in 2022 at the age of 16. She returned to the sport on her own terms after a 2024 skiing trip ignited the passion in her. In an interview with Nike, she highlighted the importance of making her own choices, especially after her return.

She said that since her return from Italy, people have advised her about changes to her hairstyle and song preferences. However, Liu stated that although she takes the advice into consideration, she does not follow it unless she agrees.

“These days, I say no to more things that I used to say yes to. I like to hear people out and I like to try new things but I trust my instincts. When I came back to figure skating, people said I would have to change my hair and I said, ‘No, I won’t be changing my hair.’ People give me song suggestions, and I’ll take them into consideration, but if I don’t like something, I’m not going to skate to it. I want to make choices that feel like me,” she said.

After Liu completed her gold-medal winning performance on Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park Suite,” the song entered the top 10 US iTunes.
